5 in 1 DHPP, and 6 in 1 - DHLPP

The 5 in 1 vaccination provides protection from Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus type 2), Parainfluenza, & Parvovirus. The 6 in 1 vaccination provides protection against the aforementioned diseases, as well as against Leptospirosis. This vaccination is the most important vaccination and may start as early as 8 weeks in healthy dogs, boostered until 4 months old.

Bordatella or "kennel cough" is a bacterial respiratory disease. Most boardig facilities require this vaccine.

NOTE: For adult dogs that are acquired older than 1 year of age, Only 1 vaccination is required to induce the expected immune response, no booster needed of the series.

Deworming:

Deworming recommendations: Puppies should be dewormed at 2,4,6,and 8 wks of age with pyrantel. Can also substitute last dewormer with Panacur (fenbendazole), it covers, giardia and couple species of tapeworms also. The dosage of Panacur must be given at 1 ml per 4 lbs body weight for 3 consecutive days. Puppies can then start on monthly heartworm prevention at 12 weeks old.

Pyrantel dosage 5 mg/kg of body weight=2.27 mg/lb. Pyrantel is only given once.

Inexpensive monthly heartworm prevention safe for Bully breeds: 1% Ivermectin Cattle Dewormer (can be bought from feed stores like Tractor Supply or online http://www.revivalanimal.com/ ) Dosage: 0.1ml (1/10th) per 10 lbs of body weight. Can be given orally (mixed with food) or by subcutaneous injection, although it does burn by giving as a injection.

* Caution should not be given to pets under 6 weeks of age. This dosage is prevention against heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms when given monthly.

Mange Treatment:

Demodex and Sarcopic Mange Treatment safe for Bully breeds: Using 1% Ivermectin Cattle Dewormer - Give 0.1 ml per 10 lbs of body weight orally every 24 hours for at least 30 days. It can take up to a couple months to treat severe cases. Treatment should continue until clinical disease signs are no longer apparent. In conjunction with the dosage of Ivermectin, the dogs should also be bathed twice weekly with a Chlorexidine or benzoyl peroxide shampoo for follicular flushing. Nutrition also plays a huge part in fighting skin disease. Additional fatty acids/Omega 3's supplementation is highly needed for those case. A generic fish oil capsule and Vit E capsules added to there daily food is sufficeint.

**This treatment should not be used in dogs under 12 weeks old. For puppies under 12 weeks old, use the medicated baths only.

Ear Mites:

Applying 1 drop( approximately 0.05 mls) of the 1 % Ivermectin into ear canal and massaging the base of the ear will kill ear mites. Recommended to treat again in 2 weeks.

DIET:

High quality diets are one that are grain free, no fillers, 1st ingredient is the protein, chicken, beef, fish, bison, lamb, turkey ect. No corn, corn meal, or other grains, or preservatives. The rest of ingredients, should contain varies vegetables, vitamins and minerals. Feed puppies puppy food, adults adult food, and pregnant bitches puppy food until they are weaned.

Supplements of omega 3's and fatty acids help skin and joints. Plain yogurt (sugar-free) is a good probiotoc, so is cottage cheese. Eggs will give extra protein. Canned pumpkin and raw uncut, uncooked green beans will give extra fiber for colitis dogs, with out added calories.
